Karfo Tip

Fruit peels, rind,& scraps

Limit any one fruit to 1 cup/cycle to avoid adding too much sugar.

Veggie peels & scraps

Limit any one root veg to 1 cup/cycle to avoid adding too much starch. Too much starch will clump and harden inside the Karfo.

Chicken, beef, pork

The end product from Standard mode will be of lower nutrient value when combined with this type of food waste.

Seafood

Do not include hard shells, this can damage the grinders (Shrimp is fine).

Tea bags

Only include tea bags that are certified compostable. Some tea bags include plastic mesh which will melt in the Karfo.

Coffee

Whole beans or ground + used or unused.

Leftovers

Drain extra sauces, oils and dairy as too much of this will result in clumpy greasy end product.

Oats

Too many cooked oats can result in a very gummy end product.

Sauces

Avoid emptying bottles from your fridge as the high sugar contents and dehydration can result in a burnt end product. Leftovers with sauce is fine!

Baked goods

Only add in limited quantities to avoid clumpy end product.

Frozen food

The end product from Standard mode will be of lower nutrient value when combined with this type of food waste.
